Arrowhead Hill: A Countryside Getaway

It’s no surprise that amidst everything we have encountered during the year 2020 that people as a whole are placing a whole new sense of value on togetherness, and having the ability to escape the typical day-to-day. In this experience directly related to the wedding industry, we are seeing more and more couples wanting to get out of town and plan a destination wedding. Whether that means exchanging vows on the countryside, facing the beach, or overlooking the mountains… the bottom line is couples are focusing more on the overall experience in making their wedding day feel like a getaway for everyone.

Now when most think destination wedding you immediately think about jumping on a plane or making robust road trip plans BUT sometimes the escape that you’re looking for is right under your nose! After all, it’s all about the feeling and experience that YOU create. Arrowhead Hill is one of our favorite family-owned venues in the greater Houston area and we can honestly say that they have figured out that feeling!

Arrowhead Hill is a hidden gem tucked away in the hills of Montgomery, Texas where the property is full of sweeping countryside views. The property has the most stunning chapel and gathering area where every detail has been curated for the perfect wedding experience. One of those details that really sets this venue apart is the on-site cottages available for wedding couples and their guests. This is a GAME CHANGER for any couple’s wedding weekend experience!

We interviewed Courtney Leigh of Courtney Leigh Photography whose family owns Arrowhead Hill to learn more about their cottage accommodations and what sets them apart!

1. Tell us more about the property as a whole and why this is near and dear to your heart!

“The property is our home. My parents purchased the land as a place to watch their grandbabies grow up and to live somewhere peacefully, outside of the city. The idea of the venue organically came about as my parents were looking to switch career paths and start a new business and with all of our talents and backgrounds of business, photography, corporate event planning, construction, etc. all came together perfectly to create Arrowhead Hill. It is very much a family business and something we take a lot of pride in. The property as a whole is 85 acres total, and full of rolling hills, breathtaking views, and the most incredible sunsets that Texas has to offer.”

2. How do the cottages add value to couples booking their wedding at AH?

“The cottages are one of our greatest features. Couples have the opportunity to stay on-site and this adds a huge convenience factor to the wedding weekend. We love providing a one of a kind experience for our guests to be able to enjoy the entire weekend with their family and friends.”

3. Are there any activities available for guests that are utilizing the cottages and staying on the property?

“Guests have access to fish at their leisure on our two ponds, one of which is fully stocked! We also have additional amenities such as skeet shooting and quail hunting for an additional cost. This is always a huge hit for the wedding party! We also have a newly completed outdoor pavilion that is great for hanging out around the fire pit or s’mores making! “

4. We understand that each cottage has its own personality! Which one is your favorite?

“Cottage #1 is the honeymoon sweet, we love it’s “something blue” accents and touches of gold! Cottage #9 we also love because it has a lot of the same exterior siding that the Gathering has for a more masculine feel and dark finishes!”

5. Paint us a picture of the guest experience for the people that stay in the cottages on the property!

“Typically our weekend guests that book their rehearsal dinner and wedding day with us have the property from 3 p.m. on Friday until 11 a.m. on Sunday. Guests must book the facilities for Rehearsal Dinner in order to do their Rehearsal on the property! After their rehearsal dinner is over, they are welcome to hang out at the pavilion by the cottages to continue the party. On Saturday guests will wake up, enjoy a coffee on the porch or their cottage, wedding party/groomsmen will likely go have some fun at the skeet shooting range while the girls/bridesmaids head up to the bridal suite to begin HMU services. The wedding day unfolds from there and then after the wedding is over, guests can walk back to their cottages for another night’s stay. Sunday, the couple can opt to do a send-off brunch or just have the morning to enjoy with their guests before heading out! It’s a full weekend of celebrating!”
